Briton ‘killed in blast while defusing Isis bomb in Iraq’

A British national has died in Iraq while apparently trying to defuse a bomb planted by Islamic State.

The Foreign Office confirmed the death but was unable to give any further details.

"We are in contact with the employer of a British national who has died in Iraq and have offered our support at this difficult time," a spokeswoman said.

Reports said the person was killed in Ramadi, in central Iraq, while trying to make safe a device planted by IS before militants were driven from the area by US-led air strikes at the end of last year.
