Sam McKnight, the man who tended Kate Moss’s hair on her big day, dishes his need-to-know advice.
1. For timeless wedding hairstyles keep your outfit in mind. High necklines lend themselves to the elegant silhouette of an updo, whereas necklines showing more skin work beautifully with longer hair.
2. Kate had to be Kate on her wedding day. It was undone but done with a barely-there wave and a rock ’n’ roll edge. John Galliano made her an exquisite veil, so we tucked a few pieces of hair back around the edges to prevent it from falling on to her face.

3. Chanel does some of the chicest hair accessories but a velvet ribbon from VV Rouleau is beautiful, too. Don’t limit yourself to hair accessories alone; jewellery such as brooches and necklaces can work wonderfully.
