Cayman range gains Black Edition

Actually, it IS the standard 2.7-litre entry-level model, because the engine and gearbox are unchanged. But it comes with a bulging toybox filled with a long list of tempting extras.

These include sat-nav, cruise, dual-zone climate, part-leather trim, xenons, 20” Carrera Classic rims, auto wipers, auto-dimming rear view mirror and parking sensors at both ends. There’s a premium stereo and aluminium surrounds for the side windows, too.

As with the rest of the Cayman range, Porsche will lay on a driving course at Silverstone for the car’s first owner.

The price of all this is £45,989. That’s about six grand more than the standard vehicle on which the Black Edition is based.
