With wineries, beaches and yoga nearby, we suggest you make a beeline for Aller Dorset this autumn.

WHERE TO CHECK IN

Aller Dorset’s wonderful owners Cat and her husband, Ant, are on hand to welcome visitors in the most disarming, relaxed way. Guests have a choice of two idyllic huts — Links and Littledown — set on the family farm and the hyper-local vibe is evident: the huts are the work of Plankbridge, based up the road, which also makes all the huts for The Pig hotel group. Both huts are finished off with super-luxe touches.

WHERE TO DAY TRIP

While you won’t want to leave that outdoor bath, some worthy diversions tempt nearby, namely the many beautiful walks in the area. Take the time to explore the Jurassic Coast path or the Ice Drove, Bulbarrow. Head to one of the stunning beaches at Burton Bradstock and Lulworth Cove. Or if a day sampling local wines is more your speed, book a tour of Langham’s Wine Estate. (langhamwine.co.uk)

WHAT TO DO

Local village Lower Ansty is barely a village so you’ll find very few distractions, just perfect for frazzled Londoners needing to switch off. Start the day with lakeside yoga with Aimee from Glow Yoga. The most unintimidating instructor I have ever encountered, she made the session calm and energising for even the most basic of yogic beginners (me).

Do not leave without booking in a reflexology session with Annabelle Turner’s healing hands — truly life-changing. Your blackened city soul will thank you for it.

WHAT TO EAT & DRINK

The côte de boeuf, lobster, burrata and asparagus
Aller

Take the opportunity to indulge in all the delicious, local food this part of the country has to offer. The owners can provide a pre-prepared meal — try the côte de boeuf or lobster, with burrata and asparagus — to cook over the flames of your very own fire pit. Get acquainted with the honesty bar, where the Conker gin and Black Cow vodka are all made locally, and for breakfast try Cat’s home-made granola and a slice of sourdough from local artisanal bakery, The Wobbly Cottage.
