Great Celebrity Bake Off viewers were left in tears as Bill Turnbull opened up about his “heartbreaking” cancer diagnosis.
Speaking at the end of Tuesday night’s episode, the former BBC Breakfast host, 62, became tearful as recalled the moment he had told his children that was suffering from advanced prostate cancer.
“I remember my daughter came and I said, 'Well, I've got to tell you - I've got cancer'. And I had to tell my sons on the phone... we all cried,” he said.
"If it was to all end tomorrow I would not feel hard done by because I've had an amazing life.”
He added: “I've been incredibly lucky and if one thing comes out of this it's that actually if you know you're time is limited you appreciate so much more the world around you and particularly the love of my family.”
Viewers were quick to praise the broadcaster for his bravery, with many admitting that they had been moved to tears.

Viewers saw him having a go at cake-making on Channel 4's Celebrity Bake Off which was filmed prior to Turnbull being diagnosed.
He told the Radio Times on Monday: "When I was making my cupcakes, I had the disease and didn't know it."
