Ayda Field has revealed she and Robbie Williams will not return to The X Factor this year.

The celebrity couple joined Simon Cowell and One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson on the ITV show last year as part of a massive shake-up.

They have stepped down after one turn on the judging panel, but promised they will still be working with Cowell.

“We’ve got some very big announcements coming soon - but we can’t reveal all yet,” Field wrote on Instagram.

“Sadly as it’s impossible to do everything, we’re gutted to tell you we won’t be able to return to The X Factor this year. We will, however, be working on projects with Simon going forward - and as huge fans of the show, we will still be tuning into The X Factor, voting and winding Simon up!”

Williams shared the same image of the couple on his Instagram, tweaking the caption slightly to mention his upcoming British Summertime slot and theatre project.

Last year’s competition saw Field in charge of the Overs category while Williams – who missed some live shows due to tour commitments – mentored the groups. Neither reached the final with their acts.

In December, Tomlinson claimed victory in his debut series as Dalton Harris walked away with the series crown after beating Anthony Russell and Scarlett Lee.
