A Harry Kane lookalike was mocked online by viewers who claimed he looks more like Chesney Brown from Coronation Street than the England football captain.

Danny Mclaughlin, 26, was on ITVs Lorraine ahead of England’s potentially historic World Cup semi-final game against Croatia tonight.

The Hackney council youth worker – who was wearing the England kit – told host Lorraine Kelly he gets a crazy amount of requests for selfies and videos from people thinking he’s Kane.

He said: “I’ve had it over the last few years and through university a lot – guys chanting in queues – but more recently with how great Harry Kane’s doing it’s been crazy with people asking for selfies and videos.”

But viewers were unconvinced, claiming he looks nothing like the Spurs striker, with one joking he more closely resembles their “cat” while another tweeted: “My mate Bill looks more like Harry Kane than that bloke.”

One posted: “If he looks like Harry Kane then I look like Margot Robbie.”

Another wrote: “Lorraine Kelly looks more like Harry Kane f*** sake.”

Another sarcastic viewer joked they were struggling to tell the difference between Mclaughlin and the real thing, tweeting: “Well come on then which one is which. The suspense is killing me.”

Mclaughlin – who said he is currently single and looking for love – doesn’t pocket any money from his hobby as Kane’s doppelganger.
