Max Evans has revealed that his girlfriend Lauren Jameson ‘understands’ his chemistry with his Dancing on Ice partner Ale Izquierdo.

Speaking during an interview on chat show Lorraine, the former rugby player shut down rumours of a romance between himself and the professional skater.

He said: “It was such a huge compliment the first week about our chemistry because that meant we put in such a good performance and told the story of love.

“But as you said Lauren is a dancer and she understands that need for chemistry so it’s all good.”

Evans and Izquierdo’s connection has raised eyebrows in recent weeks, with judge Ashley Banjo hinting that something might be going on between the pair.

After one of their routines, Banjo said: “I loved that. Slowly pace routines are more exposing, not just for the routine but for the connection between the two of you. I don’t know what’s going on between the two of you, but I love it.”

The most recent episode of the skating competition saw Evans and Izquierdo saved by the judges after ending up in the first triple skate off of the series alongside Donna Air and Anthony Cotton.

Dancing on Ice continues Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
