The paper-based environments of inventive PlayStation 4 platform game Tearaway Unfolded have broken through into the real world thanks to artist Andy Singleton.
Using 100 discarded copies of the Evening Standard, Singleton has created a 300kg model of the iconic London skyline - featuring the Shard, Big Ben, the London Eye, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and more - to celebrate the release of the new game.
The sculpture, which is currently on display at London’s Southbank, took over 120 hours to craft, and at its tallest point is over two metres high.
“I specialise in creating art from paper, but this is the first time I’ve used recycled newspapers and it wasn’t without its challenges,” explained Singleton. “Bringing to life the incredible paper world from Tearaway took me over two months, but I’m thrilled with the results.
“Every piece of the sculpture, from the trees, to hands on Big Ben, has been crafted in minute detail to create a mini paper London.”
