After hosts Russia kicked the World Cup off in style with a 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia on Thursday, things get going in earnest on Friday with three games across two groups.
In the other half of Russia’s group, Group A, Egypt – complete with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah after it was confirmed he would play following a speedy return from a shoulder injury picked up in the Champions League final – take on Luis Suarez and his Uruguay side.
Following that, the two underdogs of Group B go head-to-head in St. Petersburg in what is a must win game if either side are to make it out of the group.
Rounding things off it is one of the biggest games of the group stages as European champions Portugal take on Spain, still shocked by the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the tournament.
