Olympic champion Usain Bolt has scored his first goals in professional football for the Central Coast Mariners.

Bolt, who fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a footballer having retired from athletics in 2017, latched onto a through ball from Scotland international Ross McCormack, shrugging off his marker before finding the bottom corner against McArthur South West United.

The 32-year-old added a second after a mix up between the opposition's goalkeeper and his defence 10 minutes later.

The Jamaican’s goals come on his first start for the A League club.

It is his third appearances down under, having made appearances off the bench in August and September.

Bolt is hoping to win a contract with the Mariners ahead of the 2018-19 season and noted earlier this week today’s match would decide whether or not he earns a deal.

"This will determine... [what] the club want to do with my career, so it's a very important game," Bolt said.

"I have been improving but you won't know what level you're at until you play a competitive game so I just have to go out there and see what I need to do or whether I should continue or not.
