Crystal Palace are interested in striker Paul‑Georges Ntep.

Wolfsburg were believed to be close to signing the 24-year-old France international.

However, Palace are looking at the Rennes forward, who is out of contract in the summer so could be available for less than £8million.

Ntep almost joined QPR in January 2014 but opted for Rennes.

Palace are set to make multiple signings in the January window as Sam Allardyce looks to make his mark on the squad after being appointed boss last month.

"We're lacking in a few areas, so we need to try and fix that," chairman Steve Parish told fan station Holmesdale Radio.

"We're moving heaven and earth to do the things we need to do to support the manager and support the team."
