Arsenal have confirmed that Leandro Trossard is set to join Besiktas.

The Belgium winger is set to move to Turkey in a deal worth around £20million.

A club statement read: “We can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard.

“With a transfer fee agreed, Leo, 31, has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his move to the Turkish Super Lig club.

“We will provide a further update once the transfer has been completed.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been keen to upgrade the left-hand side of his attack, to make room for priority target Morgan Rogers.

Standard Sport understands that fellow left winger Gabriel Martinelli has also been made available this summer.

The Gunners have pinpointed Rogers as their dream signing this summer, though there has been little progress on any potential deal - said to be in the region of £130million - due to England’s involvement at the World Cup.

Arteta is a big admirer of the England international and would be keen to sign the 23-year-old this summer as he seeks to bolster his squad.

Aston Villa are expected to resist Rogers sale, but the player is said to be keen on the move to the Premier League champions.

It is been a rollercoaster transfer window thus far for Villa, having hijacked Newcastle’s move for Johan Manzambi but also seen both Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne head for the exit door.

Tielemans is set to join Manchester United after his £35m release clause was triggered, and Paris Saint-Germain are said to have done similar with Digne’s.
