But he faces a difficult balancing act between taking a strong squad away with him at the end of September and resting key individuals, like Darren Gough, Andy Caddick and Alec Stewart, before the start of the winter's main business.
"It is a concern but I would expect the squad to be 90 per cent full strength," added Fletcher. "We want to perform well in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa and this tour will give us further experience of southern African conditions."
Fletcher points out that England's team last night boasted 445 one-day caps whereas Australia and Pakistan are putting out sides with more than double that level of experience. "It's going to take time and patience," said Fletcher.
Meanwhile, Sky TV announced today they will show England's overseas games for the next five years.
