Coleman: Ban 'crap' ref

"We could have been 2-0 against Arsenal at half-time so we feel robbed. We cannot just shut our mouth."

At every Premiership match, there is an official overseeing refereeing standards who routinely canvasses managers' opinions after the game.

Another top-flight referee, Andy D'Urso, is serving a 28-day ban for a blunder during Blackburn's game with Southampton last month.

He was suspended for failing to apply the laws after Barry Ferguson was not sent off despite being shown two yellow cards. But Coleman is not expecting Halsey to be hit with a similar punishment.

He said: "I would not be surprised if nothing happened. Arsenal are on one hell of a run so it takes a brave man to take a decision which might end that run. I will probably get into trouble for saying that, but I don't care. When I get the phone call from the assessor I will tell him what I think."

Coleman's called Halsey "crap" in the post-match press conference and his furious reaction could spark a separate Football Association disrepute charge. An FA spokesman confirmed that the governing body is giving his comments "due consideration".

The FA are also looking at remarks made by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho about referee Rob Styles following Chelsea's 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.
