Corinthians defender Marinho has asked police to end their investigation into the abduction of his mother.
Police said they would let the family negotiate the release of 62-year-old Alice Maria Nazare, who was abducted on Tuesday.
It is the fifth time the mother of a prominent Brazilian player has been abducted since December.
The mother of FC Porto striker Luis Fabiano has been held captive since March.
