Blaize says her show is more popular among women than men. She said: "My striptease
performances are erotic but it is the presentation of a character. It is not merely stripping. It is intelligent and sophisticated. It is parody, irony and tease in the burlesque tradition.
"It uses comedy, various dance disciplines and pokes a lot of fun. There is a huge amount of substance to it."
This substance includes her reported mastery of simultaneously rotating her nipple tassels in different directions, the talent that caught Beattie's eye.
Miss Blaize said: "Burlesque is the new fantasy of looking back to the days of glitz and glamour, back to the times of sexy bombshells. Audiences
can also dress up and become part of the atmosphere. This is why it is popular."
Beattie, 45, is chairman and creative director of TBWA, thought to have an annual turnover of £37million.
He was catapulted to fame by the Eva Herzigova Wonderbra advertisement, which was criticised by women's groups.
