The greatest Respect

The Respect festival has had a chequered history since it started in 1996. It ran for two years, disappeared for three and then changed venue. But, so far, Mayor Ken has kept true to his manifesto pledge to hold the festival each year he is in office.

Last year's event was deemed a great success, even launching the career of chart toppers Blue.

This year's free day of music, comedy, dance and art continues the commitment to anti-racism and the development of London as a great multicultural city.

De La Soul headline on the main stage with Don Letts, Blak Twang, Sister India and Pay As U Go Cartel.

There'll also be a roller disco, stalls, international cuisine and play area, plus information on jobs, education and training.
