Watch: singer Birdy performs an intimate acoustic set beneath Somerset House

UK singer Birdy has performed an exclusive acoustic set underneath the iconic courtyard at Somerset House, to mark this year's Summer Series at Somerset House.

"I've got to play in some really lovely places." She said.

"In Paris on a rooftop, in Hollywood in a cemetery.

"Quite weird places, but quite beautiful.

"But never really in such a unique space [like this]."

The musician expressed her excitement and said of the performance that, "there is a special feeling that comes from a small group of people sharing [this sort of experience]."

Somerset House is hosting the Summer Series from July 6 - 16. In addition to Birdy, who will be performing on July 12, the music festival will feature a world-class and eclectic line-up.

Famous for his hit Welcome to Jamrock, Damian Marley offers a fresh new perspective to his Father’s (Bob) legacy, mixing dancehall, reggae and hip-hop.

The female quartet of Warpaint will play their freshly released Exquisite Corpse EP. Their ethereal sound “transforms intimate moments to cathartic highs”.

The website reminds music lovers to come prepared for rain or sun. The gigs are open air and the audience area is not covered.
