With its North American release set for September, the London premiere of Practical Magic 2 gave Canadian and U.S. fans an early look at the sequel. Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock brought a little magic to Leicester Square on Wednesday night as they reunited for the European premiere.
Almost three decades after starring together in the 1998 cult classic, the pair were back on the carpet as witchy sisters Gillian and Sally Owens for the hotly anticipated sequel.
The original film followed the Owens sisters as they navigated love, loss and the complications of being born into a family of witches cursed in matters of the heart.
This time around, Sally and Gillian find themselves facing a multi‑generational curse threatening the next generation of their family.
Kidman, 59, embraced her longtime co‑star as they posed together on the blue carpet, wearing a shimmering white gown embellished with gold chain and pearl detailing.
Red carpet highlights
They were joined by the film's younger generation of stars, including Joey King, who leaned into the romantic, witchy aesthetic in a pale blue mesh gown, and Maisie Williams, who opted for a simple burgundy dress. Original stars Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest also attended, marking another reunion nearly 30 years after they first appeared as the eccentric Owens aunts. Fellow cast members Solly McLeod and Xolo Maridueña completed the lineup as Leicester Square welcomed the Owens family back for another dose of magic.
Upcoming North American release
The film, produced by a U.S. studio, will open in Canadian theatres on September 11, matching the U.K. rollout, and U.S. cinemas will follow a day later. This coordinated launch is expected to draw fans on both sides of the border who remember the original and are eager for the sequel.
