British actress Lily James has reportedly signed up to play a younger version of Meryl Streep’s character in a follow-up to hit musical Mamma Mia.
The rising star is thought to be the latest cast addition to the eagerly-awaited musical sequel, following her turn in Cinderalla and this summer’s Baby Driver.
According to Deadline, James will play ‘Young Donna’ in flashbacks while Oscar-winner Streep returns as the older version of the character.
Scenes will flash back and forth in time to show how Donna’s relationships with her past boyfriends were forged earlier in her life.
Titled Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, the sequel reunites the original film’s producers Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman, with The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel director Ol Parker.
ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will return to pen the music and lyrics, with cast Colin Firth, Amanda Seyfried and Pierce Brosnan also set to appear.

Brosnan recently confirmed his return on Instagram, writing: “Do wanna dance, or do you wanna dance? Mama Mia here we go again.”

The original film, released back in 2008, was a box office hit and made more than $600 million worldwide.
The plot of the sequel is expected to focus on how Donna met the three men who could have been her daughter’s biological father and pick up from where the original left off.
