In the mix this weekend

When live drum'n'bass is done well, it leaves its audience lost for words. Hospital Records' London Elektricity are a band who can hit such heights, and are set to aggravate North London's decibel levels this Saturday.

Since the release of the Billion Dollar Gravy album last spring, Tony Colman has become one of the genre's leading names. Shaking up tough beats with plinkity melodic samples, sonorous vocals and edgy rapping, it makes for delicious consumption both on and off the dancefloor.

They're joined by UK hip hop's current star Ty, who is still reeling from the success of recent Jazz Cafe gigs. DJ support comes in the bass-heavy forms of High Contrast, The Mixologists and Lotek Hi-Fi. An essential night.

Sundays at 333 are starting to become a special occasion. The apres roast-dinner delights of Sick Love's Electro Heaven and the dubled Seven Clash, are followed this weekend by the second instalment from Lo Recordings, Lo Quality.

Best known for clanging space-age techno odysseys and a tumbler full of peculiar freaknik noises, the label has ridden the tidal-wave changes of dance music since 1995 and is still original. Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Luke Vibert and Red Snapper have all, at some point, been part of the family, with upcoming releases promised from the latter two.

Newer recruits The Chap, with their ode to punk-funk soundclash, herald Lo's new dawn. Everything from electro pop and soothing jazzaludes to brittle minimalist beats and screaming housey numbers are to be expected from Ed DMX, WingDing Soundsystem, Smilex and the Lo Recordings Soundsystem.
