Dunkirk trailer: Christopher Nolan releases first teaser for new World War II epic

Christopher Nolan has released the first teaser trailer for his eagerly-anticipated new film Dunkirk.

The London-born director, known for Inception and The Dark Knight Trilogy, dropped the first clip of the film on Friday morning.

While stars Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Harry Styles aren’t seen in trailer, the scene is set for Nolan’s World War II epic.

The tense first-look scenes show boats of Allied soldiers arriving in the French seaport as an enemy aircraft flies overheard.

The film focuses on the 1940 evacuation of Allied troops by the British army from the city of Dunkirk.

“At the point of crisis. At the point of annihilation. Survival is victory,” flashes up in between scenes.

After a clip of the teaser leaked online late on Thursday, Warner Brothers quickly released the official video.

The teaser was always scheduled to launch in cinemas on Friday, playing ahead of screenings of Suicide Squad.
