Danny Dyer has confirmed that he will play the lead in "powerful and dark" Channel 5 show thriller Heat.

The 45-year-old jets off to film the four-part action drama in Victoria, Australia this month.

"I can’t wait to get amongst this beautiful piece of work in Australia," he said.

"I’ve always been intrigued about working there.

"It’s my first gig since EastEnders.

He added to The Sun: "Heat has a powerful, dark script and strong Australian cast and crew. Let’s have it!"

Heat centres around two families who are long-time friends and visit a secluded home for a summer holiday during Australia’s bushfire season.

Since he announced in January that he was leaving EastEnders, the star - who has played Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter on the long-running soap - has seemingly had a barrage of work offers.

He’s also signed up to host a travel show for E4 with his Love Island star daughter Dani Dyer, as wells as a Netflix game show called Cheat with Strictly’s Ellie Taylor.

Cheat is being described as the streamer as a new quiz show that rewards both brains and blaggers.

It will air on the stramer next year.
