Damned are a festive turn-off

Controversy is raging in Cambridge over the decision to invite notorious punk rockers The Damned to switch on the Christmas lights.

Band members Captain Sensible and Dave Vanian, whose songs include Nasty and Grimly Fiendish, will do the honours on Sunday before playing a concert.

Church leaders have condemned the city council's choice as 'inappropriate'.
