Joseph Gordon-Levitt proved his status as a huge fan as he graced the red carpet in a homemade Yoda outfit. Also ignoring the rule to keep costumes to a minimum was Rainn Wilson who dressed as a jedi alongside his son.
The hugely anticipated event was tightly guarded with tents covering the red carpet and extensive security measures put in place to prevent piracy.
It is set to be one of the biggest premieres in history with four blocks of Hollywood Boulevard cordoned off, and saw some fans camp out for a week ahead of the event.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for UK cinema release on December 17.
