Simon Thomas has written a heart-warming note for his son following his emotional This Morning interview about his wife’s tragic death.

The Sky Sports presenter told his eight-year-old son Ethan there are “thousands of people you don’t even know cheering you on”.

Thomas shared the emotional note on Instagram, with the caption: “No snow here. Ethan’s a bit gutted. I’ve told him it is supposed to be coming! #Sacknote #lightinthedarkness”

The note read: “My boy - I know at times it feels like it's just you and me.

"But your family, your friends and 1000s of people you don't even know are cheering you on!

"I love you so much, Daddy xxx."

The grieving father revealed how wife Gemma passed away just three days after she was diagnosed with leukaemia in November last year.

He told of how his son had “collapsed onto the floor” after being told of his mother’s death.

Thomas said: “My heart was pounding. He [Ethan] went in to see her twice that day. I didn’t tell Ethan she was going. I said, ‘Mummy is seriously ill’ and I held him to her ear a couple of times and he said he loved her and [then] he went to play with his cousins."

“I looked into his deep brown eyes and said Ethan I’m really sorry they couldn’t make mummy better.

“You can’t dress it up. Mummy’s died. He collapsed onto the floor. I collapsed with him. I just held him. I would never wish that on my worst enemy.”
