Olly Murs’ heart most likely skipped a few beats after he stripped off to take a freezing cold shower on breakfast radio.

Murs, 34, was filmed shrieking and flinching as he attempted to smash the current record held by the show’s executive producer Aussie Nick for the longest time spent in a cold shower.

“Now we’re cooking,” he said as he stepped in before prematurely bragging that “it’s nice”.

“It’s getting colder,” he continued as he struggled to find ways to distract himself.

“Welcome to the Chris Evans Breakfast Show,” he said before plugging The Voice final this weekend and singing Oasis hit, She’s Electric.

As the timer reached the 42 second target he cheered himself on in a bid to get to 50 seconds. On reaching his goal he jumped away from the running tap and shouted: “Fifty seconds – come on!”

Murs is headlining new running festival RunFestRun, which is the brainchild of Evans and Vassos Alexander.

Murs recently opened up about his battles with anxiety, admitting he sought therapy after a panic attack left him struggling to breathe on The Graham Norton Show.

“My heart was pounding and I couldn’t breathe,” he told the Mirror of the experience.

“I was looking at my mum and dad in the audience and trying to focus, despite the fact I’d just forgotten my lyrics. It was just a routine performance but I didn’t know what was going on.”
