Olly Murs has revealed he does not know if he will return to host the X Factor with Caroline Flack when the series returns in 2016.

Murs, 31– who was criticised by viewers when he accidentally revealed the name of an eliminated contestant too early – was hired alongside Flack to replace Dermot O’Leary for the current series.

Speaking to Star magazine he said: “I don’t know if me and Caroline will be back next series - we’ll have to wait and see what happens next year.

“It’s up to Simon Cowell and his guys to make that decision.”

The Kiss Me singer added: “I’ve loved working on the show and being part of it this year, it’s been brilliant.”

But a replacement for Murs and Flack may already be in the pipe line in the form of American Idol presenter Ryan Seacrest.

The American TV personality told the Daily Star that he is keen to move across the pond to star on the singing contest.

"Part of me wanted to come and host a segment of the show, but nobody made the offer and there's two hosts," he said.

Simon Cowell responded: "You have to ask yourself to come to the party, you could have done it."

To which Seacrest replied: "OK, next season."
