Mark Hamill has said that he is ‘euphoric’ after watching Rogue One in a series of supportive tweets for the Star Wars spin-off.
The US actor, who plays Luke Skywalker in the franchise, admitted that he was blown away by Gareth Edwards’ new film, which is set directly before A New Hope.
“Perfect Cast Astonishing Action Non-Stop Thrills Grabs U from the 1st frame & never lets go! Not just a great #SWMovie A #GreatMovie PERIOD!” he wrote on Twitter after seeing the film on Saturday.
The 65-year-old went on to describe the newly-released film as ‘ingenious’, praising it for ‘expanding’ the Star Wars universe.
“I'm euphoric & exhilarated! Ingenious the way it deepens & expands the #SWUniverse yet works as a stand-alone movie #RogueOneDerful #Triumph,” he wrote.
The latest Star Wars film, starring Felicity Jones, Riz Ahemd and Mads Mikkelsen, has had the second-best December opening in history.

Rogue One has taken £16.8m at the UK box office and $155m (£124m) in North America, making $290.5m (£232.8m) globally.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens still holds the record, having taken $248m (£198m) in North America on its December debut last year.
Hamill will be back on screens in Star Wars: Episode 8 alongside Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Carrie Fisher in December 2017.
