Cara Delevingne and Margot Robbie cemented their friendship by wearing matching personalised tracksuits to the Suicide Squad after party.

Delevingne and Robbie – who play Enchantress and Harley Quinn respectively – in the anti-hero film, shunned their red carpet attire in favour of the comfy clothing.

The pair stepped out in London wearing the navy ensembles which featured their names and the word 'Skwad' on the back. They teamed the look with matching blue and gold trainers.

The actresses – who were also joined by Delevingne’s dog Leo – were keen to carry on the celebrations as they were pictured poking out of a sunroof with their arms in the air as they headed back to their hotel.

Earlier in the evening Delevingne turned heads as she worked the pink carpet in Leicester Square in an Alexander McQueen sheer mesh dress which she teamed with thigh high leather boots.

Robbie opted for a floral gown which featured the head of a tiger as she greeted her co-star and good friend Will Smith.

The pair mingled with fans who had dressed up for the occasion as well as posing for photos with their co-stars Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

The David Ayer directed film was panned by critics who branded it "sexist".

Robbie addressed the comments at last night's premiere and told host Laura Whitmore: “It's so rare as an actress that you get given a role this messed up and gritty and funny. He didn't write it like a chick but he wrote it for a chick and I'm grateful.

“It's so rare that chicks get to play this role.”

Ayer also acknowlegded the claims and tweeted a quote from Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata.

“Zapata quote is my way of saying I love the movie and believe in it. Made it for the fans. Best experience of my life,” he posted.

Suicide Squad is in cinemas on August 5.
