Loose Women viewers have been left disgruntled after the daytime chat show was cancelled in favour of extended EU Referendum coverage.

The Friday instalment of the ITV show was cancelled along with This Morning and Lorraine after the news broke that Britain had voted to leave the European Union and David Cameron announced his resignation as Prime Minister.

The official Twitter account for Loose Women tweeted: “Due to the #Brexit vote, @ITV will be airing rolling news coverage this morning and there will be no live Loose Women today.”

Users were quick to vent their frustration with one suggesting it be aired on ITV2 while another wanted to know if the show will be recorded because they had family members who were due to be part of the audience.

Others joked that the cancellation of Loose Women was the best thing to happen to the UK following the referendum result.

The outraged reaction comes months after viewers criticised ITV for cancelling Jeremy Kyle in the wake of the Brussels attacks.

The chat show didn’t air due to extended coverage from Belgium on Good Morning Britain.

The broadcaster warned fans of the change in schedule, tweeting: "Due to this mornings events in Brussels, our schedule will remain with @GMB, and subsequent programmes may be affected."

But some insensitive viewers expressed their anger at the cancellation.
