Kanye West faced a backlash on Twitter after he posted a casting call request for “multiracial women only”.

The US rapper, 39, is looking for models for his Yeezy Season 4 line which is set to kick off New York Fashion Week on Wednesday.

A casting call on his Twitter read: “Season 4 casting. Multiracial women only. No makeup, please come as you are.”

The post sparked controversy with users questioning why white and black women had been omitted from the casting.

One user posted: “Now imagine if a white singer said ‘WHITE WOMEN ONLY’?”

Another wrote: “..so no black women??”

Some said the request would prove problematic and joked that candidates will need to take proof of their ancestry to the audition.

Others posted memes to warn West that he has a “big storm comin’”.

Others defended the rapper and argued that specifying who he wants in his show is fine as it is part of his vision.
