Harry Potter fans have found out a huge secret after JK Rowling revealed she has been keeping tight-lipped about a particular character for the last 20 years.
The secret was unveiled after a trailer for Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald dropped leaving fans in shock.
Voldemort’s beloved snake Nagini, one of the Dark Lord’s Horcruxes, is actually a Maledictus who will be played by Claudia Kim in the upcoming film. It was famously beheaded by Neville Longbottom in The Deathly Hallows.
A Maledictus is a female who carries a blood curse from birth which eventually results in them turning into a beast.
Unveiled: Claudia Kim as NaginiWarner BrosA fan tweeted Rowling, asking: “How long have you been holding that Nagini secret?? @jk_rowling.”
Rowling replied: “Only for around twenty years.”
Fans were blown away with one tweeting: “It’s official. @jk_rowling never stops blowing my mind. #FantasticBeasts #Nagini.”
Another posted: “I have just heard about the Nagini thing and I am dying!”
A third wrote: “HOLD UP HOLD UP!.... #Nagini was a human being stricken with a curse that permanently transformed her into beast that Voldermort later used as a horcrux!?! yo #FantasticBeasts2 is wild. don’t tell me yall knew this the whole time!”
Kim's role was unveiled in Tuesday's trailer which also gave fans a glimpse of Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne's characters Albus Dumbledore and Newt Scamander in action against Johnny Depp's Gellert Grindelwald.
