Henry Cavill has sparked speculation he could be replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond.

The 35-year-old actor had his odds slashed from 10/1 to 4/1 on becoming the next 007 agent after it was reported his tenure as Superman is up.

He is now the second favourite to take on the role behind Tom Hardy who has odds of 6/4.

Betfair spokesperson Katie Baylis said: “Off the back of reports that Henry Cavill is leaving his Superman role we’ve slashed his odds of becoming the next Bond from 10/1 to 4/1 and he’s now the second favourite behind Tom Hardy who is now 6/4.

“Idris Elba at 5/1 is third in the betting, with Tom Hiddleston at 6/1 and James Norton at 7/1 for the most eagerly anticipated appointment in years.”

Cavill has reportedly been axed from his Superman role after scheduling talks broke down with Warner Bros.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the entertainment company wanted Cavill for the upcoming Shazam! But his role in Netflix’s The Witcher resulted in scheduling conflicts.
