Dick Van Dyke has confirmed he will star in the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel – more than 50 years after he appeared in the original.
The actor, 91, played chimney sweep Burt alongside Julie Andrews as Poppins in the 1964 classic.
Speaking about his role in Mary Poppins Returns, he told the Hollywood Reporter: “This one supposedly takes place 20 years later and the kids are all grown up.
“It's a great cast - Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury and [Lin-Manuel Miranda] from Hamilton.”

Van Dyke said while he is "choosy" about his roles, he has no plans to retire from performing.

Emily Blunt will play the magical nanny, while Miranda, the creator and star of the hit Broadway musical Hamilton, will play street lamplighter Jack in the film.
According to Variety, Streep is playing Poppins' cousin Topsy, while Lansbury's role in the movie has not been confirmed.
Songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are on board to pen new, original songs, while David Magee will write the screenplay.
Mary Poppins Returns is slated for release on Christmas Day 2018.
