Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has hit back at reports that she started her relationship with Liam Payne while she was still with husband Jean-Bernard.
The former Girls Aloud star, who recently stepped down from her role on The X Factor, responded to rumours that the pair had struck up a romance back in October.
Taking to Twitter after the rumours broke, she said: “If anybody believes the s*** they're reading today you really don't know me at all.”
Payne then retweeted a fan comment, which read: “Cheryl's the most selfless and kindhearted human you will ever come across in your life. I just don't understand why people are so cruel.”
A spokesperson for the star then told The Mirror: “Jean Bernard's information about when Cheryl started her relationship with Liam is false.”
According to The Sun, X Factor ‘insiders’ had informed Jean-Bernard of a romance between the pair two months before their official split.

A source told the paper: “JB was desperate to save their marriage and is absolutely furious.
“He is still taking in what he has been told. But he hasn't made any decision about whether he intends to throw this claim into the divorce. This is not going to make him any better disposed towards her."

The French entrepreneur waded into the issue on Sunday evening, writing on Instagram:
“Since months, papers, 'sources', lawyers, PR, management team an others have been trying to intimating me (sic).
"I have heard so many lies about me, my family, (that [I] can't answer anymore), and my situation... I [have] never seen anybody standing up and defend me by telling the truth. I guess because it wasn't in their interest...
He continued: “And now suddenly when the truth comes out from NOWHERE because the truth always comes out, certain people that love to say that they don't comment on their private life can't help themselves but to justify themselves which for me seems even more strange..."
