Chas & Dave feel that they're ‘better than ever’ as they celebrate their 40th anniversary.
The iconic ‘rockney’ duo, who are currently on tour to celebrate four decades in the business, still feel like they’re just starting out.
“To us it’s like we just started really, we’ve been going years and years but it feels like we’re brand new,” said Dave Peacock.
“We’re playing better than we ever did ever and we’re enjoying it as much as when we first started.”
Chas Hodges said: “We pride ourselves on being good musicians and we’re always thinking of how to give the act a bit of spark all the time.
“We always do our hits fully and give then full credit so we never miss then out but there’s always something in there gears us up and that also gives the audience a kick.
“Do they understand you up north? I really don’t’ understand why they ask that question. It’s universal,” he added.
Talking about the one time they performed a farewell tour, Chas said:
“It did happen once, Dave packed up for a little while when his dear wife died and yes he did pack up for a while and it was a final tour and at that time it was planned to be the final tour.

“But as time goes on it gets a little bit easier and he thought ‘I could do that again’. At the time it was going to be the final tour.
