A daughter for Amanda Holden

Amanda Holden has given birth to her first child.

The star of TV's Cutting It and her music producer fiance Chris Hughes were said to be 'overwhelmed and completely thrilled' following their daughter's arrival.

Alexa Louise Florence Hughes, who will be called Lexi, weighed 6lbs and was delivered by Caesarean at a London hospital on Saturday.

Alison Griffin, the actress's spokesman, said: 'They are both completely on a high and feeling fantastic-The baby's absolutely gorgeous.' The 34-year-old had previously told reporters she was playing her daughter-to-be classical music 'to make her more intelligent'.

Miss Holden split from her husband Les Dennis in 2002 following an affair with Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey. The couple divorced but are now said to be on good terms.

She will be seen next in the six-part ITV1 series, Wild at Heart, which was filmed in South Africa while she was pregnant.
