Cottoning on

British footwear manufacturer Grenson is known for producing high-quality shoes at surprisingly low prices.

Handmade in Northamptonshire, the boots, brogues and boat shoes are second to none.

So it’s good news that the company has just started making bags as well. Stitched from specially commissioned British Millerain cotton twill canvas, the midnight blue-hued collection includes a backpack, a holdall and, my favourite, a Sixties inspired flight bag.

Presidential style

In the November 1960 issue of American Esquire, Norman Mailer published his first piece of political journalism, chronicling JFK’s presidential campaign.

‘Superman Comes to the Supermarket’ was a brilliant examination of the president-to-be’s Hollywood appeal. Now, on the centennial of JFK’s birth, Taschen has republished Mailer’s piece in the form of a coffee-table tome, with 300 new photos. What a treat.

Swede dreams

The Scandinavians are good at making many things: baked goods, for instance (no one cooks up a cinnamon bun like the Swedes), and flatpack furniture. Turns out they’re also great at making high-function outerwear. Take the new collaboration between Swedish raincoat manufacturer Stuttterheim and Danish designer Henrik Vibskov.
