A scooter rider staring at his phone drove into a huge sinkhole moments after it dramatically opened up in the middle of a road.
Footage captured the unfortunate moment the unsuspecting motorist plunged into the large crater as it appeared on a street in Beihai City, China.
On his phone and without a helmet, he appears to slow as he approaches danger but realises too late and falls inelegantly into the hole.
State broadcaster CCTV, which released the video, said he miraculously escaped unscathed following the incident on Thursday.
