Lily Allen said Canada should think about building a wall as Donald Trump took three key swing states in the US Presidential race.
Allen, 31, made the remark in anticipation that Americans would try to quit their country altogether as the voting turned in the Republican candidate’s favour.
The singer wrote on Twitter: “Canada need to think about building a wall right now.”
Other social media users shared her view.
Dan Dewitt wrote: "I think Canada might build a wall. #ElectionDay."
Another said: “Canadian immigration site has crashed Canada will be the ones building a wall at this rate.”
Derik Stevenson tweeted: “Canada building a wall right now.”
Christopher Cherry wrote: “Mother of God. I think at this rate, Canada is going to be the one building a wall."
Application forms on the Canadian government website appeared to fail to load as Trump looked to be headed for the White House.
