A town in the US state of Connecticut will name its sewage plant after John Oliver, after finding itself the butt of a long, expletive-filled rant by the British comedian.
Mark Boughton, the Republican mayor of Danbury, a town of about 80,000 people 50 miles north of New York, announced the move on his Facebook page.
"We are going to rename it the John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant. Why? Because it’s full of c**p just like you, John,” Mr Boughton said.
Mr Oliver recently looked at racial differences in how trial juries are chosen in towns in the north-eastern state, focusing on Hartford and New Britain in an episode of his show Last Week Tonight.

Despite having a “charming railway museum” and being home to “historic Hearthstone Castle”, he said: “Danbury, Connecticut can eat my whole a**."
He added that he knew “exactly three things about Danbury. USA Today ranked it the second-best city to live in 2015, it was once the centre of the American hat industry and if you’re from there, you have a standing invite to come get a thrashing from John Oliver, children included, f**k you.”
The TV host made fun of Mr Boughton and other mayors, focusing on videos made to convince Amazon to set up its second world headquarters in their towns.

In Mr Boughton’s new video addressing Mr Oliver, he pointed out that Amazon has decided to open a distribution facility in his city.
“And, oh by the way, thanks for showing that Amazon video,” Boughton said. “We did get Amazon here in Danbury.”
