Piers Morgan launched into a Twitter tirade after the Florida school mass shooting, taking Donald Trump to task over gun control and attacking a firearms firm over a gun and grenade Valentine’s Day promotion.
Morgan has been a passionate campaigner for a change in gun laws in the US over the years, and following the horrific shooting in Douglas High School he posted numerous tweets on the subject.
At least 17 people were killed and more than a dozen injured in the shooting on Wednesday afternoon.
Morgan wrote: “Another horrific school shooting in America. Yet more young lives destroyed.
“Why is nothing EVER done to even TRY to stop it?”
He then turned on the US president, saying: “There have been over 200 school shootings in America since Sandy Hook – why would any child or teacher feel anything BUT unsafe?”
The tweet was a response to Trump’s words after the atrocity, who stated that “no child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.”
Morgan added later: “Three of the 10 worst mass shootings in American history have happened in your 1st year, Mr President @realDonaldTrump.
“What are you going to do about it?”
The Good Morning Britain host questioned Trump about gun control when he interviewed him last month at the World Economic Forum in Davos, during which the President defended the laws in his country.

Referring to Stephen Paddock, who shot 58 people dead last year in Las Vegas, Trump said: “Well, we do have gun control laws and this sick person - he was a sicko. I mean that's the big problem - they're sick people,' he said.
“If he didn't have a gun, he would have a bomb, or would have something else.”
During his Twitter tirade, Morgan also slated gun firm Kimber Firearms, who had a valentine’s promotion on handguns and grenades, asking: “How do these people sleep at night?”
He added: “RT if you find this disgusting.”
Morgan is not the only one to call for tighter gun controls in the US following the shooting, with a host of US politicians and celebrities have joined calling for stronger restrictions in the wake of the atrocity.
