This week sees the denouement of Evening Standard’s Christmas campaign, as our Winter Appeal races past £3 million — and gets the support of Mayor Sadiq Khan. He has called on Londoners to “dig deep” as This Day Foundation pledges an extra £755,000.

The Winter Appeal, A Place to Call Home, organised in partnership with Comic Relief, is seeking to help fund organisations that support asylum seekers and people experiencing homelessness.

Firstly, I’d like to thank all the thousands of Standard readers who have contributed so far, making this one of our most successful campaigns ever. Secondly, if you haven’t already given, I’d implore you to make a donation — visit comicrelief.com/winter.

Finally, as we publish our last paper of 2024, I’d like to wish you all a happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year, and hope you have a tremendous holiday season. And thank you for supporting Evening Standard, the capital’s favourite newspaper. You can keep updated with the news over the next few weeks at eveningstandard.ca. Merry Christmas!

Evening Standard is available for free pick-up across the city from Thursday to Monday
