Peterhouse Cambridge thrashed St John’s Oxford in tonight’s final of University Challenge.
Professor Marcus du Sautoy presented the trophy to Peterhouse, made up of captain Hannah Woods, Oscar Powell, Julian Sutcliffe and Thomas Langley, after they beat their Oxbridge rivals by 215 points to 30.
It is the third consecutive win for a Cambridge college after wins for Trinity and Gonville and Caius in 2014 and 2015.
It also brings up the number of Cambridge wins to 10, five behind Oxford since the show began in 1963.

St John’s booked their place in the final by beating Liverpool by 195 points to 95 in the semis while Peterhouse edged ahead of York to win 145 – 100.
The final began at 8pm on BBC2.
