Quarter of parents think uniforms help halt gang activity at school

One in four parents believe wearing a school uniform helps reduce gang activity in schools, a survey found.

The study by uniform makers Trutex reported that nine out of 10 London teachers think school uniforms play an active role in reducing bullying.

Two-thirds of parents say wearing a school uniform puts students on a level playing field and makes their life easier, according to the survey of 1,318 teachers, parents and pupils.

Seven in 10 respondents believe uniforms reduce the pressure on young people to wear the latest fashion, a factor in bullying.

Trutex has linked up with charity The Diana Award, established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, to launch anti-bullying campaign #bTRU2u.
