Prince Harry ‘looking forward’ to his four weeks with Australia’s forces

Prince Harry is “tremendously looking forward” to his placement with the Australian army that will see him go on patrol with Aboriginal soldiers and train with the country’s special forces.

The British Army officer, who leaves the forces in June, will begin his four weeks with the Australian Defence Force on Monday in Canberra by paying tribute to the nation’s war dead before reporting for duty that day.

The ADF said it wants to provide Harry, right, known as Captain Wales in the Army, with an “authentic military experience that builds on his previous experience with coalition forces and complements his work with wounded, injured and ill service personnel”.

Harry’s spokesman said the Prince’s experiences alongside Australian soldiers during his time in Afghanistan and on a charity trek to the South Pole had “stoked his enthusiasm” to work with the country’s forces again.

He added: “Harry is tremendously looking forward to his attachment.”
