A replica 'pipe bomb' similar to this one sparked a major terror scare at Old Trafford stadium which led to a match being abandoned.

Retired Metropolitan Police officer Chris Reid held aloft the device after his firm was named yesterday as being behind the blunder, which is expected to cost Manchester United more than £3 million.

The club's final Premier League match of the season against Bournemouth was called off on police advice after a device said to be “incredibly lifelike” was discovered in toilets at the Stretford End.

As he came clean about the mistake, ex-cop Chris Reid demonstrated a replica bomb he said was similar to the one found at the stadium.
