Meghan Markle tells Royal fans 'Prince Harry is a feminist too'

"Prince Harry is a feminist too", Meghan Markle told adoring fans during the couple's visit to Wales.

The American actress made her first visit to Wales on Thursday as the pair continued their pre-wedding tour of the UK.

While greeting crowds who braved the cold in Cardiff to catch a glimpse of the prince and his bride-to-be, Ms Markle was praised by Jessica Phillips, 23, for her views.

Ms Phillips told the Telegraph: "She was so lovely. I said it was really lovely to have a feminist in the royal family."

Ms Markle, 36, replied: "He [Harry] is a feminist too, so there's that."

The couple received a rapturous welcome as they made their day trip to the Welsh capital.

The Prince and Ms Markle walked around the grounds of Cardiff Castle in the centre of the city.

And despite their appearance being delayed for an hour due to a train hold-up, hundreds of well-wishers were delighted to see them.

As they shook outstretched hands, the prince said "sorry we're late" while the US actress echoed his words, saying: "I'm so sorry."

Ahead of their May wedding, they are touring the country to introduce Ms Markle to different towns and cities as she prepares to become a member of the royal family.

Linda Thompson, 66, from the town of Dinas Powys, just outside Cardiff, said after chatting to the prince: "I said to Harry good choice of bride and he said 'would you prefer a Welsh lady?' and I said 'no she's beautiful'."

Anne Daley, who had brought her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - named Camilla - to meet the couple, said: "I asked her if she would like to come on a hen night around the nightspots of Cardiff, and she said she'd love to."

Harry and his fiancée travelled to Cardiff by train from London but were delayed because of a track fault between the suburb of Southall and Slough, Network Rail said.

The couple toured a Welsh culture festival inside the castle before enjoying Welsh cheese and Welsh cakes at the Taste of Wales experience.

Later they visited the Star Hub, in the Tremorfa area of Cardiff, to see how sport is being used to engage young people and aid social development.
